Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

TintLens does all of its work on your device.

It needs access to web pages in order to read the colors a page already uses and override them — the content of those pages is neither stored nor transmitted.

Your settings and custom themes live only on your device and in your own iCloud account. No analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no server.

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to the TintLens app for macOS, iPadOS and iOS, the Safari extension it installs, and this website at tintlens.app.

2. Data we collect

None. TintLens has no user accounts, no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK and no backend service. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share any personal data, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

3. Why the extension asks for website access

A Safari extension cannot change how a page looks without permission to read that page. TintLens uses that access for exactly one purpose: to read the colors a page's own stylesheets declare, compute replacements from your chosen theme, and apply them.

  • Page content is processed in memory on your device, as the page renders.
  • It is not written to disk, not copied into any log, and not sent anywhere.
  • No browsing history, URL list, form input or page text ever leaves the device.

You can grant access site by site rather than for all websites, and you can withdraw it at any time in Safari's settings.

4. What is stored on your device

TintLens saves the following locally so that it can do its job:

  • Your global preferences (default theme, enabled state, engine parameters).
  • Per-site settings, keyed by domain name — for example example.com → Sepia.
  • Any custom themes you create.

If iCloud sync is enabled on your devices, this data is synchronised through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. It travels between your devices and Apple's servers, not ours — we have no access to it and no ability to read it. Apple's handling of that data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Deleting the app removes the local copy. Removing the app's data from iCloud is done through your device's iCloud settings.

5. Reporting a problem with a website

If you use the "Report a problem with this site" button, the report contains only the domain name and the theme identifier — for example example.com and forest. It never includes page content, the full URL, query parameters, cookies, or anything that identifies you. Sending a report is always an explicit action you take; nothing is submitted in the background.

6. This website

tintlens.app is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, embeds no third-party trackers, and runs no analytics. Cloudflare processes standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) as part of serving and protecting the site; see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

7. Purchases

TintLens is sold through the Apple App Store. Payment, billing and receipt handling are performed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. Apple provides us only with aggregate, anonymous sales figures.

8. Children

TintLens is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete on request. If you believe otherwise, write to support@tintlens.app and we will respond.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and the updated version is published here. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
